In 2010, two important infrastructure improvement projects are planned for portions of the City. Both construction projects will be bid and managed by Penn DOT.

1. Prince Street (Vine Street north to the City line) and Queen Street (from City line to City line) will be milled and repaved with work anticipated to occur in the Fall.

2. In advance of the repaving, Phase II of the Downtown Streetscape Improvement Program will commence in the Spring of 2010. Phase II will consist of Vine Street from Prince Street to Duke Street; Duke Street from Vine Street to King Street; Prince Street from Vine Street to Chestnut Street; and Queen Street from Orange Street to Chestnut Street. For the most part, this project will not include wholesale reconstruction of all sidewalks. Instead, the scope includes the addition of brick banding at the curb, pedestrian lighting, intersection curb extensions with pedestrian ramps, trees and other pedestrian amenities to include benches, trash receptacles, and bike racks.
